My personal experiences

Peace Corps in Georgia

Peace corps is known worldwide for its extensive and integrated approach to preparing its volunteers to live and work effectively in foreign cultures. The Pre-Service Training (PST) program is a part of an overall training strategy that begins prior to departure from the United States, continues through Pre-Service and In-Service Trainings (IST) and Close of Service (COS) conferences. This strategy is part of the Peace Corps' Training Philosophy.

The three goals of Peace Corps are:

  • To help the people of interested countries in meeting their needs for trained men and women.
  • To promote a better understanding of the American people on the part of the people served.
  • To promote a better understanding of other people on the part of the American people.
I very much appreciate the opportunity I have gained experience in working with Peace Corps. This is great honor for me to teach English to Georgians and Georgian language to the English speakers. I like my job (as a private tutor)  and I enjoy sharing Georgian culture and introducing the language with American volunteers.

Katherine Lawrence is one of the volunteer from Philadelphia and she  is my close friend now. We have made friends since last year. She is very honest and just, understanding and kind. Katherine finishes whatever she starts.
We talk about all sorts of things (education, travelling, teachers, schools...) We discuss films, television programmes, books.. What I like best about her is that she always willing to help and share her knowledge, thoughts, feelings. I respect her for her strong will, intellect and modesty. I try to do my best for our fruitful cooperation.
Katherine sent me the link  and gave me a wonderful chance to be participant  and build skills in English language teaching with technology.

We have common hobby -travelling. No matter what kind of hobby a person has, he always has the opportunity of learning from it. If you have chosen a hobby according to your character and taste your life becomes more interesting. We totally agree with this that it is always interesting to discover new things, different ways of life, to meet different people, to try different food. We see and learn a lot of things that we can never see or learn at home, though we may read about them in books and newspapers, and see pictures of them on TV. Katherine means that the best way to get to know and understand people is to meet them in their homes.
