week 5 - WebQuest a Powerful Learning Tool

This week was burdened with the important news.  After reading the articles  and see many sites I believe in that assessments, clear  rubrics and PBL encourage our students to become more autonomous learners.

As we know traditional lesson is teacher fronting which tends to minimize students' active engagement in learning. We are living in the 21-st century and the computer can provide a meaning-focused, communicative learning environment, which serves the purposes of communicative language teaching.

One of the main reason why I want to develop the webquest in my class is that, students often dislike learning traditional teaching methods. Using of it students develop autonomy and how-to-learn skills. They are active participants in the process of personal growth. I think that inquiring  learning and use of the Internet might make it more interesting and it places students at the center of their own learning, encouraging and discovering.

I have already known the main stages of the
webquest and these are:

I believe that using  this new tool will be able to help build a solid foundation that prepares our students for the future. Also Web-based project  helps students develop problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Week 4

EVERY GREAT JOURNEY BEGINS WITH THE FIRST STEP

After finishing the 4-th week I feel I gained the experience how to better help my students to be provided with good skills to have pleasant learning desire in class.
I have never used Ning (www.ning.com.) that provides more tools than a blog.

If you have found a fun, age appropriate game that you believe will do the same thing and the entire class on task is ..

This is the my class which I am preparing the project. (Now I am  missing them)

So, I would like to thank the organizers of the course for providing us with so many nice websites and ideas. Especially great thanks to dear Donna who encourages and supports me. Our collaboration helps me feel strong and sure of myself.

Weekly Reflection (the 3-rd week)

I am feeling myself very lucky that I got this grand opportunity to acquire the brilliant ideas through this course. Certainly I have gained a lot of new ideas and information from so many sites. My teaching strategy has been changed. Especially, I have tried to add something interesting from the various resources provided (such as) speaking  and listening materials from the internet. Innovative practices have arisen curiosity and greater interest among the students. They are provided opportunities of more authentic listening and speaking activities. Also, the assessment and assignment systems are changed.

In my personal case, to be honest, I had never gained such an opportunity for listening and speaking practices.  Sharing with the teachers from around the world also encouraged me to improve my skills. I felt a need to rethink my pronunciation.
I am feeling quite refreshed, young and active. I have gained a new life.

Trainings, trainings...

The Modular Programs for Vocational Teachers

In this week I attended the modular programs for vocational teachers. This is great news for our educational system. I am reminded of the saying of this approach:

"Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him how to catch the fish, you feed him for the rest of his lives!

We sincerely want to be loved ones, friends, children, family members "disservice" to render, but if you face the reality, it is impossible to do consistently. We ask ourselves the question: How does the methods work by which we can help others? What will happen in the future, when they will face the same problem ?!

This is the main question of modular training. The result is a theoretical and practical training is - module, which is focused on the student's practical results. All modules are defined by practice. It is learning by doing.

The second training was in computer technologies: how to make successful presentation and gave us some useful links: ict.tpdc.ge and color.adobe.com

I had participated in these trainings, and I did some presentations.

Better late, then never

"Better late, then never"

The use of computer technology, with internet is so helpful for learning, improving, practising and assessing speaking and writing skills. I've been very happy to see how well participants in the course are doing with their blogs. There have been various problems, of course, as we always expect with technology. Still, most people now have their blogs. I'll look forward to seeing them progress as we move through the course. I've learned many  things to add to my Blogger.  This kind of online talk and write, with native and non native  speakers of English, has been advocated, as very useful tool for improving speaking and writing proficiency. The use of computer technology for developing skills provides learning opportunites where there is less teacher fronting and are authentic and challenging situations for improving these important skills.
